Carousel Closet was founded in Knoxville, Tennessee by Campbell Price during her freshman year. The concept was inspired by a casual remark from a friend while getting ready for a birthday party: “I wish I could just trade out my entire closet.” This sparked Campbell’s interest in finding a way for teenagers to refresh their wardrobes without the financial burden of constantly buying new clothes. Her solution was to develop a point-based trading system that allows users to send in and shop for clothing using points as currency—making fashion more affordable, sustainable, and accessible.
